“What’s Humor Got to Do…Got to Do with It?”
Presented by: Marc Kerachsky and Leslie Morgan
The modern workplace doesn’t fit into one neat category. Regardless, the call for building strong, sustainable teams is an essential component for success and talent retention more than ever.
Join us in an engaging discussion about the transformative power of humor as a catalyst for building authenticity, trust and psychological safety within teams.
We will explore what humor is and is not and why it is referred to a “sense” – one that can create an advantage for both teams and individuals, alike. This session will explore the scientific and emotional foundations and benefits of humor, as well as the critical link it plays in creating an environment of inclusivity.
In addition, we will walk through some real-life examples from successful teams and how humor is a key ingredient in driving an environment where members felt true psychological safety leading to collaboration, camaraderie among team members and creative problem-solving. This includes delving further into the concept of psychological safety, the pivotal role of humor in workplace culture and the path toward more secure risk-taking, ideation, creativity and team dynamics.
Finally, we will share some quick tips on how to get started within your own teams and plant seeds of connection using some humor and improvisation techniques.
Be prepared for a little inspiration and a whole lot of education and humor as we unlock the doorway toward more collaborative, resilient and empowered teams.
